Custom Fields allow you to store, track and display additional information for your Assignments in LaborChart. This article will show you how to create and apply Custom Fields to your Assignments.
Create Assignment Custom Fields
In order to utilize Custom Fields on your Assignments they need to be created in your Settings just like Custom Fields for People and Projects.
First, navigate to your Settings Page and select the Custom Fields tab located on the left side of the screen. Then, select the blue New icon.
The Create Custom Field modal will populate, which is where you will enter the desired details for your Custom Field. Enter the required fields, choose if you'd like the field to appear as filterable criteria on other pages, and make the field available to Assignments by checking the Assignments checkbox.
Examples of Assignment Custom Fields are, but not limited to:
- Meeting/Parking Location
- Apprentice Level
- Specialty Area
Adding and Editing Assignment Custom Fields
Once you Save the Custom Field, it will populate at the bottom of the New Assignment modal when creating new Assignments from the Assignment List page, as well as the Assignment Details modal when editing existing Assignments from the Assignment List page. This is where you can add, edit or remove Custom Field data.
If you checkmark the Enable as Filter checkbox when creating the Custom Field, this field will appear in your filterable options on the Assignments List. It can also be added as a column on the page.
Please note that Assignment Custom Fields populate in modals on the Assignment List page only. You will not see Custom Fields on Boards and Gantt pages.
